You can also play games indoors, but you'll probably want to schedule them after you've eaten. For many, Father’s Day is a very nostalgic time, so indulge by sharing photo albums and funny stories.

Father’s Day occurs just before summer hits, when fruits and vegetables are at their prime. Head down to your local farmers' market to see what's fresh and in season. Whatever you prepare will depend not only on what's available but also on how you plan to serve it.

If it's a sit-down meal you've envisioned, design a menu that begins with a bright salad such as spring greens with roasted beets and goat cheese, and segues to something delectable like buttermilk-fried chicken or grilled halibut with pesto.
